Journey back to the time when pop music still mattered! When Super Mario Brothers was state of the art gaming! Back to the years when Dave had hair!!
Yes, one of Ground Zero’s most popular sales returns – it’s 8 Days of the 80s!!
Beginning on Friday, November 11th, any time you buy a back issue comic from that most fabulously tubular of all decades (that’s the 80s!), you get another back issue from that same totally awesome decade at 80% off!!*
But the radical savings don’t stop there, dude! The Rockin’ Ground Zero Sound System will be playing nothing but tunes from the 80s – name the tune playing at any time and get 20% off any graphic novel originally produced in the 80s!
You want more 80s goodness? How about this: Come in during the sale and name your favorite band, movie or TV Show from the 80s and get a raffle ticket for a DC Comics Super Heroes Flash figure from Toy Biz. Okay, the date on the figure says “1990”, but it’s quintessential 80s plastic and it’s still in its original blister card. And you can win it just by sharing your love of the 80s (or faking your love of the 80s, if need be). One free raffle ticket per customer per day. Drawing will be at 4PM on Saturday, November 19th – you must be present at the drawing to win!
*Discounted back issue must also be from the 80s and of equal or lesser value.

I remember back in the day… we got the Sears Christmas catalog with about 50 billion toys in it. There was also an item where you could order one of every Marvel comic printed in the month you ordered it in. That cover above reminded me of that because I believe it had an issue of Secret Wars II.
I think that the idea of an 80’s themed events is like totally, tubular to the max, but as awesome a concept as this is I do have to take issue with the choice of comic book covers chosen to announce the event. Seriously dude, Secret Wars II? That was the best possible choice of all the comic book covers you had to represent the 1980’s? Batman: Year One, Amazing Spider-Man #300…Wolverine #1…these were all unavailable? I only asked because of Secret Wars II the Once Upon a Geek Guy wrote ” This is an abysmal comic…Save your wallet and your brain the pain…Remember, friends don’t let friends buy bad comics.”. Wow! Now, in my opinion, Secret Wars II was Jim Shooter’s best shot at becoming the next Fredic Wertham & did more to stop kids from reading comics than the book Seduction of Innocence.
Well…yeah, I guess I could have picked Watchmen or Dark Knight Returns or something like that. But- those books are kind of timeless, whereas Secret Wars II just screamed “80s” to me.
I mean, really – when you think of 80s music, do you think of U2 or some other band that is still popular today – or do you think Flock of Seagulls?
…Flock of Seagulls…”I Ran So Far Away” is timeless!!!
